The challenge of the first ESPN golf took place in 2002. The challenge has been launched to raise funds for the V Foundation and the first event took place Lost Canyons Golf Course in Simi Valley, California. The V Foundation was founded by Jim Valvano, North Carolina, a basketball coach Crown lost his battle to cancer fifteen years ago. At that time, the event had 120 teams winning golf facilities. ESPN Golf Today Challenge in Las Vegas which is sponsored by Callaway Golf, will be with golf courses near 500 represented the United States.

The purpose of the event is to find the best team of two fans in the United States. The challenge is open to any amateur player, man or woman with a maximum handicap of 24. Junior players can also be eligible if you play a team with an adult. The first step in the process of scoring plays in a local reference site. Among the winners in the areas of classification of premises, gross and net division winning team will be at the regional qualifier. Players have the option to try to benefit more than a score of local site. The regional winners are then ranked for the national finals to be held in Las Vegas over the last two years and will be held in Las Vegas in 2009.

For 2009, the Golf Challenge in Las Vegas ESPN is adding two new events. The first is a division "Senior", which will allow those who are 55 years or older to participate in a series over the short tees. The shorter period is 10% shorter than the departures of gross and net divisions. The second event is the new "triple play". For an additional cost of this new event allows two pairs of players to register as a foursome. Each player has the opportunity to play with all three other players and may be in more than one winning team.

The registration fee is $ 60 per player and those who wish to participate in the "triple play" may pay additional 49 per player. The end of the year 2008 were completed on October 26. ESPN2 will broadcast the final of December 14, 2008 at 11:00 ET. Next years event will be held October 22 to October 24, 2009 at Paiute Golf Resort.

Win or lose all those playing in the event leaves a winner. All participants receive a dozen Callaway Golf Balls Pro and a subscription to Golf Magazine. Players who are interested in participating are January 1 to July 15 to benefit locally. Often, a maximum of eight teams went from local to regional. Why not register on the local site of reference.
